Dubai Creek Tower: Key Facts, Features & Everything You Need to Know

Dubai Creek Tower

Dubai Creek Tower is a cable-stayed observation tower under construction at Dubai Creek Harbour, developed by Emaar Properties and designed by world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Inspired by Islamic minarets and the lily flower, it will feature 10 observation decks, sky gardens, premium dining, and cultural spaces. As of early 2026, Emaar has issued the construction tender — the project is advancing. Estimated completion: post-2030.

Dubai Creek Tower is the most anticipated landmark project in the UAE right now. This architectural marvel sits at the heart of Dubai Creek Harbour, a 6 km waterfront masterplan positioned as Dubai’s next Downtown.
It is not competing with the Burj Khalifa in function. While the Burj Khalifa is a mixed-use skyscraper, Dubai Creek Tower is purpose-built as a global tourism and observation destination, closer in concept to the Eiffel Tower than a conventional high-rise.

What Is Dubai Creek Tower?

Dubai Creek Tower is a cable-stayed observation tower under active development at Dubai Creek Harbour, Dubai. Its structural design uses a slender reinforced concrete core stabilised by radiating steel cables, inspired by the form of the lily flower and the verticality of Islamic minarets.

The design was selected by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum personally from a shortlist of six competing global architecture firms. Santiago Calatrava’s winning concept was described as fusing cultural heritage with structural innovation.

Location: Dubai Creek Harbour, Al Khairan First, Dubai, 8 km from Burj Khalifa, 10–15 minutes from Dubai International Airport (DXB).

2026 Construction Status – Where Things Stand

In August 2023, Emaar announced a design revision, shifting focus from height records to architectural elegance.

The significant 2026 update: In January 2026, Emaar Chairman Mohamed Alabbar confirmed at the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF) that the construction tender is being issued. This is the clearest, most concrete signal of progress since the foundation was completed in 2018.

What issuing a tender means: Emaar has finalised the revised design and is actively inviting major contractors to bid for the main works. It is the final step before physical construction resumes.

What Matters for Dubai Creek Harbour Investors

Landmark infrastructure drives property values in Dubai Real Estate. The data from Dubai Creek Harbour already shows this dynamic beginning:

  • Price per sqft rose ~25% between early 2023 and late 2025 in delivered phases.
  • Current average: AED 2,410/sqft,  a meaningful discount to Downtown Dubai’s AED 2,770/sqft.
  • Gross rental yields: 6.5%–7.5% (among the strongest waterfront yields in Dubai).
  • Blue Line Metro connection is planned

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How tall is Dubai Creek Tower?

The official height has not been confirmed by Emaar. The original concept targeted approximately 1,300 metres. The 2026 revised design points to 900 metres or above, which would still surpass the Burj Khalifa (828m) and rank among the tallest structures ever built.

Q: When will Dubai Creek Tower open?

No official opening date has been set. The construction tender was issued in early 2026. Industry analysts estimate completion post-2030 given the scale and complexity of the project. The tower is expected to open in phases.

Q: Who designed Dubai Creek Tower?

Santiago Calatrava, the Swiss-Spanish architect and engineer behind the World Trade Center Transportation Hub in New York and the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. His design was personally selected by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum from a global shortlist.

Q: Is Dubai Creek Tower taller than Burj Khalifa?

Based on the revised 2026 plans, yes, the tower is expected to exceed 828 metres. However, Emaar has deliberately moved away from the height record narrative. The focus is now on architectural identity and the visitor experience.

Q: Is it a good time to buy property in Dubai Creek Harbour?

The area is mid-cycle, delivered phases are operational, the tower’s construction is restarting, and the Blue Line Metro has not yet been built. This combination of confirmed infrastructure and not-yet-priced catalysts is precisely the profile that precedes the strongest appreciation windows in Dubai’s history. That said, investors should factor in a long completion timeline and conduct independent due diligence.
